Financial Transactions in Internment Camos.

Cable & #ireless Ltd. represent that during the war their Manager in Hong Kong advanced currency to the value of £450 sterling to Mr. E.I. Syne-Jones, late Fostmaster General, liong Kong, and Mr. Wynne-Jones issued a cheque in favour of the Company.

Shen this matter was taken up by the Company #1th Er. Byme-JJres in Hong Kong, after the war, he stated that a large portion of the currency which he had reocived was distributed to members of the Hong Kong Post Office who were internees and he added that he had been endeavouring to arrange for the Hong Kong Government to refund the sterling equivalent or to collect it from the employees ounotriæd. Ms. <yme-Janes also said that he would call on the Managing Director of the Company in London when he returned to the United Kingdom in the spring of 1918, but this he has not done.

Cable & Wireless, Ltd., have an enquired whether anything can be done to recover some at least, if not all, of the money due to the Company. They hare boon informed of the sugested procedure for settling such claims but in view of the fact that the money appears to have been advanced by Cable & direless, Ltd., (which is now a Government controlled organisation) for the benefit ret Mr. Wynne-Jones only but of members of the staff of the liong Kong Post Office, I would be glad to know whether you have any information about these particular transactions and if you can assist in ary way in recovering the 450 due to the Company.
